The Ultimate Motivator: The Power of Pain

I’ve always been awestruck by the early Christians that chose physical torture rather than freedom.
Christians were put to death by heathen emperors, governors, and judges. What was their crime? It was confessing to being Christian. They did not have proper trials. They were tormented before being put to death. The one way to evade the suffering was merely to denounce one’s faith – and they didn’t even have to mean it, all they had to do was utter the words. A few took this easy way out; but surprisingly most did not.
